District

Fairbury Public Schools is a Class III district and educates 943 students, PK-12. We are pleased to be State of Nebraska Department of Education accredited.

Our students are divided into PreK-2 Central Elementary School, 3-6 Jefferson Intermediate School and 7-12 Fairbury Jr.-Sr. High School. All schools are located within the city of Fairbury, which has a population of 3942 residents. Fairbury is a rural community and is also the County Seat of Jefferson County. We are located in southeast Nebraska along the banks of the Little Blue River, at the intersection of US Highway 136 and Nebraska State Highway 15. Fairbury was founded in 1869 and Fairbury Public Schools also began in 1869.

Our district has a rich tradition of excellence, in both the classroom and in our many extra-curricular activities. Our buildings are focused on the growth, maturation and development of our most prized commodities…our students.  Technology is a focus for our students and we are pleased to have 1:1 chromebooks for our students.  Technology is not a “thing,”  it is a tool. We are fortunate to have wonderful access for our students and staff.
