Kari Fisher Receives the Jeffs’ Best Award!

The Jeffs’ Best Award was created by the Fairbury Public Schools Board of Education to highlight and celebrate the great work of our staff. On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to congratulate Mrs. Kari Fisher, as the recipient of the January Jeffs’ Best Award!  Kari is a science teacher at Fairbury High School, and this is her nomination statement:

I am honored to nominate Mrs. Kari Fisher for the Jeffs’ Best Award. Kari is an outstanding teacher with high expectations for all students. She works incredibly hard to ensure she provides the best possible learning experience for students. Although the school day is from 8:00-4:00, Kari’s day starts much earlier and ends much later. The time she puts into not only teaching but providing meaningful feedback to students is absolutely incredible.

I am nominating Mrs. Fisher because she works EXTREMELY hard for her students. She gets to school bright and early and stays late at night so she can grade papers in a timely manner, get labs set up, or help students when they need it. She wants what is best for her students and always answers any questions and finds new ways to teach the material if her students do not understand something. Her work ethic and optimistic attitude are inspiring!

Congratulations Mrs. Fisher!

The Science Guy

The “Science Guy”  worked on forces during his lesson. The third graders did an experiment with balancing a paper robot on a pencil using ordinary things like paper clips, beads, and other things to get it to balance out. Pretty cool stuff!!!

Amy Nippert Receives the Jeffs’ Best Award!

The Jeffs’ Best Award was created by the Fairbury Public Schools Board of Education to highlight and celebrate the great work of our staff. On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to congratulate Amy Nippert, as the recipient of the December Jeffs’ Best Award!  Amy is one of the administrative assistants for Fairbury High School, and this is her nomination statement:

Amy truly is one of the many administrative assistants in our district that works amazingly hard in making sure our building runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible. She is organized and is always 1 step ahead of what is needed by students and staff. Not only will she assist students, but she also is not afraid to have a firm hand with students in the office. The office is not only a place where students come when they are disciplined but a place where students know and feel they can come for anything they need. From a staff point of view, it is such a refreshing feeling to know that when you need something done, she has it done before you even have time to think about it again.  Amy is truly amazing and does her best to keep this building a well-oiled machine!
She goes out of her way to help my students. My students have gone to her for help because I wasn’t in my room when they got off the bus. She did more than just give them verbal directions. She has my students to the kitchen to get their breakfast and then walked them to my classroom to make sure they make it safe and sound to my room. She even stayed there until I was back in my room.
Congratulations Amy!

Aquifers That You Can Eat!

4th-grade students are currently in their Geology Unit of Study. This week one of the activities they are doing is building an Edible Aquifer. They learned about confined layers, contamination, and how aquifers recharge. They also learned about the conservation efforts that Nebraska makes to keep the groundwater clean and around for generations to come. They then were able to enjoy their Edible Aquifer!!
