Michelle Hanson Receives the Jeffs’ Best Award!

The Jeffs’ Best Award was created by the Fairbury Public Schools Board of Education to highlight and celebrate the great work of our staff. On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to congratulate Michelle Hanson, Fairbury Public School’s Intervention Coordinator, as the recipient of the March Jeffs’ Best Award!  These are her nomination statements:

Michelle has a multifaceted job that she regularly completes with a positive attitude. She is flexible in fulfilling her jobs. Sometimes we need a last minute training-she does it. Sometimes we need her to sub-she does it. Sometimes we need her to prepare last minute paperwork-she does it. She prepares materials for parents. She creates para schedules. She monitors completion of paperwork. She completes fidelity checks. She completes everything we need her to quickly, accurately and quietly. She is a daily “jeffs best” and I hope we are able to recognize her for all she does!
This is my first year at Fairbury public schools and Michelle has welcomed me with open arms and has helped me and guided me!
She is always willing to help me out with anything I need. She is super friendly and is hardworking.   Michelle is definitely one of Fairbury public schools BEST!

Name Brand VS Store Brand

As part of a unit on Product Concepts, Branding and Packaging, Principles of Marketing class analyzed a variety of name brand vs. store brand food products. Comparisons were made between packaging, appearance, price per unit, and of course, the taste of both brands. In Cola Wars, Pepsi dominated over Coca Cola. However, surprisingly, Sam’s Cola was identified as the preference over both Pepsi and Coca Cola.  Students were surprised to find they preferred the store brand of various foods and typically could not identify the difference between name brand vs. store brand based on the taste.

Dental Health Month

February is Children’s Dental Month and the kindergarten class learned about good oral hygiene.
Dr. Spahr and Kenidee, with Smile Designs, took time out of their busy schedule to teach the children how to brush their teeth and why this is so important. All of the kindergarten students received a toothbrush and toothpaste!
