Fairbury Journal News Fairbury, Nebraska (9/19/2017) Fairbury volleyball is close…that close to getting over the top of the hill.
At their home invite this past Saturday they went 1-2, and finished in fourth place.
Their opening match against Sandy Creek was a hard loss, dropping 23-25 and 12-25. The Lady Jeffs would take that heartbreak from their loss and direct their efforts toward David City.
The David City match saw the team play together to notch a two-set win, 25-19 and 25-21.
In the third place match they squared off with Auburn. Fairbury took a dominate opening set 25-15, but Auburn fought back taking the next two 13-25 and 17-25.
Coach Rundle is looking forward to the rest of the season, “We performed well this weekend! Although we were 1-2, I was happy with the competitive fire we showed both versus Sandy Creek and Auburn. We are one step closer to beating Auburn at sub-district time and I can’t wait for another rematch.”
Rundle continued, “Honestly, it’s the first time this season I felt we were working hard for one another. The team showed great effort, attitude, team chemistry, and desire to battle. Hitting efficiency and serve receive passing were strong points for our three games Saturday.”
