Jefferson Students Attend Leadership Conference

On October 20, 2015, fifth and sixth grade students from Jefferson Intermediate attended the Student Leadership Conference at Doane College, Crete, Nebraska.

Alex Buxton, Gavin Schramm, Karly McCord, Braden Suey, Alissa York were the 6th graders attending.  The fifth grade students included Jax Biehl, Trayce Blas, Alexz Hunt, Brittany Kroeker, Jackson Martin, Moirah Neal, Hannah Robertson and Cora Tatro.

The morning started with an entertaining presentation from Men With Dreams,   The philosophy of Men With Dreams centers around “Do Your Best”; “You are Important”, “One Step Forward”, and “Never Be Average”.  

Next, the Jefferson group attended several break-out sessions including Barn Yards and Beach Island Burgers; Investing in our Youth, Games That Teach Leadership Qualities and Helping the Homeless Head to Toe.   Students spent time on goal setting, working as a team, qualities of a leader; and selecting a project to help a certain community group.

The keynote speaker, Haeven Pederson, Holmes Elementary School gave an excellent presentation.  His speech was about challenges you may face in life and his message was “NEVER GIVE UP!”
