Fifth graders learned about angles with some hands-on fun! To classify angles at the beginning of our unit, teachers taped up a table with painter’s tape, armed students with a whiteboard marker, and let them classify (acute, right, obtuse, and straight) as many angles as they could. They LOVED this activity! This was one of the four “Station Rotations” that students engaged in as part of the BlendEd Program that fifth graders are currently participating in. At the conclusion of this activity, students took a picture, explained this activity and posted it on their SeeSaw account to share with family and friends.
Parent Pyramid Model Series
There has been an extension on the registration deadline for the Parent Pyramid Model series in Fairbury due to low registration. Registration is open until this Friday, October 19th with the first class starting on Monday, October 22.
This parenting series is free to register and dinner and childcare are provided at no cost each night. This is a wonderful opportunity being offered to parents in Jefferson County and feedback from last year’s class was very positive.
5th Grade Fall Art
Mrs. Ruhnke’s fifth graders drew and colored pumpkin scenes using Oil Pastels and Baby Oil. The students sketched their scene and then colored them with a variety of Oil Pastels. Blending was then done with a Q-tip and Baby Oil. Students enjoyed creating their pumpkin scenes and had the added bonus of a room that smelled like Baby Oil!

Activity of the Month – Fall Inspired Painting
Tuesday, October 30th – 3:45 pm at Jefferson
This simple project requires autumn colored paints, a pencil for tracing your hand, a canvas or thick piece of paper, and Q-Tips to dab leaves onto the tree. Simple, beautiful, and sentimental. Thanks to our new match, Tonya and Micah for going outside the box with their weekly match activity! For more Fall related craft ideas, follow our Fall Craft Board on the Fairbury TeamMates Pinterest page.
Happy Mentoring and Happy Fall!
Husker Harvest Days
On September 13th, 37 students traveled to Husker Harvest Days by Grand Island. Throughout the day, students got the chance to talk to many different agricultural businesses including equipment companies, seed companies, and livestock producers.
Along with great experiences and talking to these experienced workers in the ag field, there were many different opportunities to meet new people from other chapters, see some old friends, and gather great souvenirs from every agribusiness company. It was an educational day for all of the Fairbury FFA members to learn more about the future of agriculture.
