Lady Jeffs Unable to Ground Jays

Fairbury Journal News Fairbury, Nebraska (9/19/2017)  In a battle of state rated teams, the Seward Lady Jays traveled to Fairbury on last Tuesday. Seward won 7-1.
Seward pitching held the Fairbury bats at bay, allowing only four hits in the game. Seward put up five runs in the opening two innings, and added two more in the fifth. Fairbury broke the goose egg in the fourth when Macy Ohlde brought in a run. Ohlde had two hits versus Seward, while both Marah Shumard and Claire Shumard hit doubles.
Delaney Miller was on the hill, striking out six batters in seven innings.
This week Fairbury played Falls City (Tuesday) and hosts Southern (Thursday).
“Both teams have the potential to make some noise if you let them but if we continue to do the basics we can come out on top! The Crete Tournament on Saturday is always a tough Class B lineup. It will be a good opportunity for tough competition and a chance to earn quality wildcard points with some wins!” remarked Coach Taylor Biehl in looking ahead at this week’s game for the Lady Jeffs.
