On June 19th-23rd, Madison Gregory attended the Skills USA National Leadership Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. It was there that she represented Fairbury High School, competing against many other students from all over the United States. To get to the National Conference and compete, one must first win at the state level. Madison did just that back in April, placing 1st in the state of Nebraska in Cosmetology.
Skills USA is a national organization with chapters in all 50 states. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. They provide educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms.
Students at both the high school and postsecondary levels are on hand to show off their skills and compete in areas they are interested in. It’s a growing organization and Nebraska alone has seen significant increases in their numbers.
There were around 40 students competing at the high school level and many more at the secondary level. This was her first time at Nationals! I want to congratulate her on representing Nebraska at the conference and on a job well done.
