Fairbury students at the Doane Vocal Festival

Garret Ragland and Michaela Buchli attended the Doane Vocal Festival at Doane University this past Sunday and Monday, January 8th & 9th! DVF is an annual event that brings together high school students from around the state of Nebraska. For two days, the almost 70 members of the Festival Honor Choir sang great music, listened to wonderful concerts, and were able to spend time with other enthusiastic musicians their age.
This year’s honor choir was conducted by world-renowned composer, Jake Runestad. He brought several of his own pieces for the students to perform. They also composed a brand new piece as a choir during the festival!
Monday night, they presented a concert along with the Doane Choir and several high school soloists that were selected as part of a solo competition. It was a great finish to a fun festival! Thanks Garret and Michaela for bringing the Jeff Pride and representing the Fairbury music department so well!
